What we do

During a routine cleaning, the hygienist uses a small, metal scaler to scrape off tartar above and below the gum line, and/or an ultrasonic vibrating device to loosen plaque and tartar. The areas between your teeth will also be cleaned with floss or another tool, and your teeth polished with a gently abrasive paste.

Bone grafting is a minor surgical procedure that is normally done in a dental office. An incision is made in your gum to gain access to the bone beneath it, and then grafting material is added. Most often, the grafting material is processed bone minerals around which your body will actually deposit new bone cells.

Regular dental exams are a critical part of preventive health care. The exam includes evaluating your risk of developing other oral problems and checking your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities. A dental exam might also include dental X-rays (radiographs) or other diagnostic procedures.

Dental X-rays (radiographs) are images of your teeth that your dentist uses to evaluate your oral health. These X-rays are used with low levels of radiation to capture images of the interior of your teeth and gums. This can help your dentist to identify problems, like cavities, tooth decay, and impacted teeth.

When a tooth has been damaged or undergone sufficient decay, it may become necessary to remove it. This process is known as tooth extraction and is a routine procedure performed regularly by our team here at Fayetteville Smiles. While extractions are considered a last resort, they’re quick and easy to perform when necessary and can relieve a number of symptoms. In many cases, tooth extractions are performed as the first step on the road to another restoration procedure.

Dentures (also known as false teeth) are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, and are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional  dentures are removable (removable partial denture or complete denture).

Research has shown that the appearance of your smile can have a profound effect on important aspects of your life. From improving social experiences to boosting how well you advance in your career, teeth whitening can help you in all your endeavors. Fayetteville Smiles helps patients excel in all areas of their lives through our professional teeth whitening services.

Contrary to the reputation Root Canals have in media they aren’t actually the cause of excruciating pain. In fact, they’re an effective way of solving conditions that can be causing significant amounts of conditions in patients. Root canals are able to save teeth that otherwise would have to be extracted due to advanced decay or damaged pulp, relieving pain and preserving the oral health of your remaining teeth.

One of the most cited reasons among adults and children alike regarding orthodontic treatment for misaligned teeth is the stigma associated with the visibility of traditional braces. Fayetteville Smiles has been providing dental patients with an effective and subtle alternative to metal braces for orthodontic care. Invisalign braces are the most popular solution for making a perfectly aligned smile quickly and conveniently.  This orthodontic treatment takes advantage of a new innovation in dental technology to create clear braces that are custom-made for each patient. These braces can be put on and removed in much the same way as a dental guard, making them easier to clean and convenient to wear. Patients wearing Invisalign trays are able to get a correction for their misaligned teeth without the obvious appearance of metal braces. Patients at all stages of life can benefit from this innovative orthodontic treatment while discretely working towards the perfect smile they’ve always dreamed of.

Bridges are a restoration treatment that can be used if you’re missing one or more teeth and have the benefit of protecting your remaining teeth from shifting or rotating. Missing teeth can do more than impact your bite, but can also lead to temporomandibular joint issues and gum disease. Bridges get their name from their design that spans the space between two teeth, which are known as abutments in this procedure. These abutments serve as supports and anchors for the artificial replacement tooth that is known as a pontic. The same materials are available for bridges as those available for dental crowns, though porcelain and ceramic are the most commonly used.

Dental sealants are thin coatings that when painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) can prevent cavities (tooth decay) for many years. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from cavities by covering them with a protective shield that blocks out germs and food.

Performing oral examinations and corrective care for children is a core responsibility. This includes everything from dental exams and repairing cavities to diagnosing oral conditions and injuries and developing treatment plans. Teaching children hygiene habits that will last a lifetime and maintain their dental health is extremely important . We also offer children and their parents instruction on cleaning and flossing teeth, provide dietary counseling, and organize educational services for their communities.

Oral cancer screening is an examination performed by a dentist or doctor to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify  mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure

If you’ve ever wanted to correct crooked teeth, correct cracks or chips, or otherwise make your smile look better, Fayetteville Smiles may be able to help you. Our team has been helping patients like you achieve their most beautiful smiles through the use of cosmetic dentistry services with the purpose of making them more aesthetically pleasing. Through these processes they will change the shape of your teeth, brighten their shade, correct damage, and close gaps in your smile.

Scaling and root planing, also known as conventional periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy, or deep cleaning, is a procedure involving removal of dental plaque and calculus (scaling or debridement) and then smoothing, or planing, of the (exposed) surfaces of the roots, removing cementum or dentine that is impregnated with calculus, toxins, or microorganisms,[1] the etiologic agents that cause inflammation.[2] This helps to establish a periodontium that is in remission of periodontal disease. Periodontal scalers and periodontal curettes are some of the tools involved.
